Why this image tool is private
Resizing draws the image onto a canvas of the new size and re-encodes it. That is local drawing work, and it needs no connection to complete.
Other tools in this category upload your file to a server, process it in the cloud, and return a download link. That means your document sits on someone else's disk — often with a retention window measured in hours. Here, the file is read by your browser, transformed in memory, and saved straight back to your disk. You can watch it happen in the live check above: the counter for files uploaded stays at zero.
Frequently asked
Should I keep the aspect ratio locked?
Almost always yes. Unlocking lets you set width and height independently, which stretches the picture. That is occasionally wanted, but usually it is an accident.
Does enlarging improve quality?
No. Making an image bigger cannot add detail that was not captured. Enlarged photos look softer. Resize down for quality; resize up only to satisfy a minimum-size requirement.
What happens to transparent areas in a PNG?
They are preserved if the output is PNG. Saving a transparent image as JPG fills transparency with a solid colour, usually white, so keep PNG when you need a transparent background.
Can I resize several images to the same size?
Yes. Drop them all in, set one target, and apply it. This is useful for making a uniform set of thumbnails or product images.
