    How to split pdf

    1. Drop in the PDF you want to divide.
    2. Choose a mode: every page as its own file, or custom ranges.
    3. For custom ranges, type them as 1-3, 7, 10-12 — each group becomes one output file.
    4. Click Split PDF. Each resulting file is offered as a download.
    5. Because browsers limit automatic downloads, files are packaged as a single ZIP when there is more than one.

Why this PDF tool is private

Splitting means selecting page ranges and writing each selection to a new document. It is a local reconstruction of page trees, and this tool performs it with no network request at all.

Other tools in this category upload your file to a server, process it in the cloud, and return a download link. That means your document sits on someone else's disk — often with a retention window measured in hours. Here, the file is read by your browser, transformed in memory, and saved straight back to your disk. You can watch it happen in the live check above: the counter for files uploaded stays at zero.

    Frequently asked

    How do I format ranges?
Use commas between groups and hyphens inside a group. 1-3, 7, 10-12 produces three files: pages one to three, page seven alone, and pages ten to twelve.
Why did I get a ZIP instead of separate files?
Browsers block a page from triggering many downloads at once, as a security measure. Packaging the results into one ZIP is the reliable way to hand you several files in a single action.
    Are the pages re-compressed?
No. Original page content is copied intact. File sizes of the parts approximately sum to the original, minus a small amount of shared overhead.
Can I split only the pages that have content?
The tool splits by page number, since it does not attempt to guess which pages matter. Use the range syntax to choose exactly what you keep.
